UK Shinwakai Association was formed, in 1993, under the direction of Sensei Jack Poole 7th Dan, who holds senior grades in both Yoshinkan and Aikikai styles of Aikido. The Association was established to pursue the study of Aikido through the incorporation of the structure and discipline of Yoshinkan, with the flowing movements of Traditional Aikido. Sensei Poolealso wished to promote a true family spirit within the Association and over the years other like minded Aikido organisations have joined and regularly train together, in harmony. The Membership of UK Shinwakai Association now includes four (4) Aikido organisations, each headed by their own Chief Instructor, who offer Aikido training in Traditional, Yoshinkan and Iwama styles of Aikido throughout England and abroad. Whilst each organisation retains responsibility for its own teaching and grading they meet corporately, as the ‘Heads of Shinwakai’ Board, to promote the overall management and development of UK Shinwakai Association
UK Shinwakai Association (UKS) is a member of the British Aikido Board(the Governing Body for Aikido in the U.K: Recognised by Sport England as the only UK Aikido Governing Body). UKS is also affiliated to Aikido Yoshinkan
